How to Write Viral Reel Captions in 2025
Instagram Reels are the fastest way to grow, but the caption is often overlooked. The algorithm looks for "Dwell Time" (how long people spend on your post). A long, engaging caption keeps people reading while the video loops in the background, racking up views.
The Perfect Reel Structure
- The Hook (Line 1): This must be visible before the "...more" button. Use the preview tool above to ensure your first 5-8 words grab attention.
- The Value (The Middle): Once they click "more," deliver value. Bullet points work best here.

Why the "More" Button Matters
On mobile devices, Instagram truncates Reel captions after roughly 55 to 90 characters (depending on screen size and line breaks). If your hook is "Hello guys today I am going to show you...", it will get cut off. But if your hook is "STOP doing this š...", people will click to see what they should stop doing.
